What is a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant ? (VBA)

The Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant is trained to work specifically on Bankruptcy petitions.  To become certified the VBA must pass a comprehensive exam on preparing bankruptcy petitions. The VBA uses the client Intake Forms ( CIF) completed by the debtors to complete the petition.  The VBA assists with the required Due Diligence by conducting a Nationwide Bankruptcy Search for each debtor.  Conducts on-line searches for property and liens.  Utilize NADA and Kelly Blue Book for auto values.  Use Zillow.com to obtain an appraisal for Real Property.

Draft petitions are usually returned to the Attorney within 48 hours.  The VBA also provides an Attorney Cover Letter detailing any potential problems such as unexempt equity, or questions concerning the debtors information.  The Attorney has the option of having the VBA contact the clients for the needed information.

I have been trained in Unauthorized Practice of Law ( UPL) regulations. I do not provide legal advice to your clients.  I do not prepare petitions for the general public.  I only gather general information for Attorney's review and directions.  Any questions asked by the clients during calls to obtain missing information on CIF will be written down, emailed to Attorney and a copy will be placed in the clients file.

The Benefits of Hiring a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant (VBA)

Reduce overhead, a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant is an Independent Contractor.  this means the Attorney is not responsible for taxes, health insurance, vacation or sick pay.  The VBA provides all her own office supplies, equipment, password protected computer and licensed copy of Best Case Solutions software.

The VBA is fully trained. To receive certification the Virtual Bankruptcy assistant completes in-depth training and passes the certification exam at 713training.com and NSVBA.org. VBA is fully trained to begin processing petitions.

The VBA concentrates on your petition only, no interruptions from client phone calls or walk in customers. Draft petitions are usually ready within 48 hours of VBA receiving Client Intake forms. Reduce turn around time for petition preparation as VBA focuses only on your petition because there will be no other assignment that needs to timeshare the VBA's attention.

Eliminates the time you and your staff spend preparing a petition so you can concentrate on the more complex cases.  The VBA frees up your staff so they can concentrate on direct client interaction, research and obtaining new clients.

Reduce Notice of Deficiencies because petition is reviewed by Both the VBA and Attorney.  Attorney Cover Letter included with petition provides notice of possible problems, such as unexempt equity, before the petition is files.

Attorney maintains control of all documents. VBA  works with faxed copies, on a password protected computer.

The VBA will assist with required Due Diligence by: Reviewing Client Intake Forms (CFO), Conduct Nationwide Bankruptcy search for each debtor. Conduct on-line search for property and liens.  Search NADA and Kelly Blue Book for vehicle valuation. Prepare draft petition, including all schedules, Means Test, Statement of affairs.  Prepare Attorney Cover Letter detailing potential problems or questions.

The VBA is available to contact clients to obtain missing information at a time convenient for your client, if desired by Attorney. All petitions will contain only the Attorney's name, Law Firm and Bar number.

The VBA is trained in Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL) regulations and will not provide any legal advice to your clients.  If authorized by Attorney any client contact between VBA and your clients will be to only gather general information for your review and directions.  Any questions asked by clients during calls to obtain missing information on  CFI will be written down, emailed to Attorney and a copy placed in client's file.
